Fall 2021 is finally here!

We are excited for the potential of a more “normal” school year ahead! This fall, we’ll resume in-person large group gatherings every week, have more in-person Bible studies, go on a fall retreat, and have lots of great events and opportunities for fellowship. We sincerely hope you’ll join us!

COVID 2020

You may have noticed that lots about life is different right now, but we still want to love and serve you!  This fall at UConn, there are a good number of us still living on or around campus that get together regularly for fellowship.  We are also doing a bunch of stuff virtually on zoom throughout the week.  We hope you’ll stay connected and definitely let us know how we can be serving you in this challenging time.  The best way to stay in touch is to check out our instagram @uconnruf and get into our groupme so you can stay connected to our fun and welcoming community and stay in the loop about all that we have going on this fall!  May the Lord bless you in this Covid season!

Fall 2019 – An Exciting New School Year!

A new school year is almost upon us and we at RUF could not be more excited!  We can’t wait to reconnect, hear about summer, and meet all the new students that will be arriving on campus.  Here are some other things to get excited about:

  1. Our new weekly Large Group series in the gospel of Mark: “Jesus + Nothing = Everything.”
  2. Our new Large Group room, room 310 in the U.
  3. Really cool UConn RUF t-shirts!  To get your shirt, all you need to do is come to the first large group, Wednesday night (8/28) at 7pm.  Hope to see you there!

Fall 2018 – New Night, New Intern, Exciting Year Ahead!

We are so excited to kick off the 2018-2019 school year soon!  This year, we will be SWITCHING TO WEDNESDAY NIGHTS for our large group gathering, and MOVING NEXT DOOR to room 304C.  Same time (7pm) , and same great fellowship, worship, and Bible study.  Also, our new intern, Jonathan Keller, is joining the RUF staff and we can’t wait for you to get to know him!  Finally, we are excited to be studying the gospel of John this semester in a series called “Who is the Real Jesus?”  John was Jesus’s closest friend and knew Him most intimately.  His gospel gives us unique insight into who Jesus is and how He gives us true life.  Don’t miss this!  Looking forward to meeting you soon!

Fall 2017!

We are delighted to begin welcoming new students back to campus and thankful to have the whole RUF staff back for another year!  Make sure and come see us at all the welcome events in the coming weeks.  We cannot wait to reconnect!

New Staff and New Events

126a3878It’s a new year of RUF at UConn and we CANNOT WAIT for the school year to get started.  One of the most exciting bits of news is that our newest staff member, Hannah Moon, is finally here!  Hannah comes to us from New York City, where she was involved with RUF as a student at Hunter College the last few years.  We hope you are able to meet Hannah soon!

In addition to Hannah coming on board, we are also excited about our ice cream social, which will be happening on the first day of classes, Monday, August 29, from 6-8pm on the student union mall.  We’ll have free dairy bar ice cream, lawn games, and music, and it will be a great chance to meet and connect with some of our community.  Whether you are new to RUF or have been around for a while, we’d love for you to find a true home in RUF this year!

New RUF Staff!

jebLadies and gentlemen, introducing Jeb Ralston!  At the beginning of this month, UConn RUF officially welcomed Jeb Ralston to our staff.  Jeb hails from Florida and will be venturing up to the great white North for the next couple years to work with us at UConn.  Like Lucas, Jeb will spend much of his time on campus eating lunches, drinking coffees, leading Bible studies, and immersing himself in the UConn community.  We are THRILLED to have Jeb joining us and CANNOT WAIT for you to meet him!  Don’t know Jeb yet?  Make sure and set up a time to meet up!  Want to get to know him a little bit before the school year begins?  Check out his blog at jebralston.com!

Welcome Back!

I am SOOO glad that it is finally Fall in Storrs and cannot wait to see all you RUFers back on campus, as well as meet some new faces!  This is going to be a great semester!  This year, in order to be more centrally located, our Thursday night large group gatherings have moved to the lovely Student Union Art Gallery in room 310.  I’m really excited about this new location and can’t wait for our first large group gathering on Thursday, August 28th!  This semester, we’ll be studying the gospel of John in a series entitled, “Who is the Real Jesus?”  I am really excited to begin this in-depth look at who Jesus really is.

In addition, we’ve got some great beginning of the year events on the calendar, and we’ll be looking ahead to our fall retreat to Camp Berea in Hebron, NH October 3-5.  If you haven’t been on an RUF Fall Retreat, you really need to join us.  Ask anyone!

Looking forward to seeing/meeting you all soon!

A Day of Service!

On DATE TBD, we have the unique opportunity to learn about God’s work in the city of New Haven, serve the poor, and put the love of Christ (which we talk about all the time in RUF) on display for those in need.  As Christians, we believe that God cares deeply about cities like New Haven since they are filled with people created in God’s image.  Sadly, New Haven is one of the poorest cities in the US and about 25% of New Haven residents live below the poverty line.  During our day in New Haven, we will have the opportunity to discern the beauty of the city, to see how God is at work there, and to play a small part in making New Haven a more glorious place.  Will you join us???
